Meet the faces behind Kairos Maui

scroll

Hello! My name is Matthew Ergina. I'm originally from Long Beach, California. I moved to Hawaii in 2011 when I went to UH Manoa. C/O 2015, woot! There, I majored in Creative Media and that is when my love for film/photo was really cultivated. After graduation, I moved back to California with my girlfriend (who is now my fiance hehe) who was pursuing a Master's Degree at the time. I shot with a well-renowned wedding cinematography company for two years before we decided to move back to Maui. Back here on Maui I have been shooting weddings with another local company before Elaine and I decided to start up our very own wedding videography business.

 That is kairos

Hey guys, Thanks for getting this deep into our website. My name is Elaine and I am one of the co-founders of Kairos Maui. Thinking back on my life, I've always been around cameras. One of my earliest memories as a kid was picking up my dad's heavy old sony video camera and filming a family party. Capturing the faces around us and the FOOD and me eating the food. From then on I didn't think much of it except that filming was fun. In college, I was a double major from the University of Hawaii at Manoa Shidler Business College in Marketing and Management. There I purchased a small Canon Powershot and documented a lot of my time in school as well as with my friends on the weekends. I was also working FT for a big corporate Surf Store right in the heart of Waikiki and after graduation I  grew into a position of managing my own location in Lahaina, Maui. Throughout these years I traveled a lot and started to film my travel on a GoPro Hero 4 alongside my longtime girlfriend. Last year she purchased my first DSLR for my birthday and ever since then I've never put it down. I was asked to film my first wedding two months later and asked my best buddy Matt to help me out and from then on the rest is history. I quit a stable 9-5 job to chase film, and I'm finally starting to chase my happiness the way I know I was intended to be alongside the people I love the most.
